VR Week 24 Q9

Here are some questions based on the last few weeks’ lessons.  See if you can remember how to answer them quickly and accurately. 

In the following section, you’re going to read a sentence.  The idea is to switch one of the words for one of the options you’re given, but to leave something that means exactly the same thing.  There are a few things to consider when we do this.  Have a look at the example: 

I was cheering the team on from the side of the pitch. 

A  grass   B   happy        C   edge         D   line E   applaud 

Answer:  C (‘edge’ can replace ‘side’ to mean exactly the same thing in this context) 

Question:         The birds were tweeting noisily in the tree as the cat came closer.
